On 24 November 2017, Gibb Engineering & Architecture – consultants to the City’s Joburg Development Agency- held a public meeting at the Melville Methodist Church to present their draft proposal of the Melville Precinct Plan. More than 100 Melville residents were in attendance.
 
A copy of the draft plan is available for download – https://mymelville.gibb.co.za/ – The Project team requested the community to submit their comments by 15 December 2017.

Contents
  1. Broad comments on the inconsistent, biased & poorly formulated document, and the absence of community driven content
  2. Response to fragmented planning approach and the lack of policy integration
  3. Proactive suggestions of elements not within the study area
  4. Serious shortcomings in urban design guidelines, their regulatory frameworks and their interaction
  5. Comments on the Urban Management framed work.
