It came to our attention that an application for Land Use Consent for a Place of Amusement has in fact been lodged with the council – the dates are not clear and it might well be that the objection period has lapsed, but as there were no notice given and no notice displayed
on the premises, proper procedures were not followed. If you consider objecting, please ensure you apply for condonation for in case the objection is late.
The current application is for the entire Erf 455 Melville, corner of Main Road and 4th Avenue – which includes the whole block of flats and all business premises – this is untenable. It is for gambling – slots machines, but once these rights are granted, it can easily be converted to any other form of amusement, e.g. night club., etc.
