Vagrancy Workshop @ Marks Park Sports Club, The Pavilion Room | Randburg | Gauteng | South Africa

Please take note of the postponement notification for the vagrancy workshop as received (this afternoon) from Ward Councillor.

The workshop will now take place on Saturday 2 July 2016.

Please RSVP directly with Councillor via email should you wish to attend.

“Dear MRA Members,

RE: DATE CHANGE FOR VAGRANT WORKSHOP

Thank you for your interest in attending the Workshop on Vagrancy. Unfortunately, the Speaker of Council has unexpectedly decided to hold our Council meeting over two days this week due to the long agenda and therefore, instead of sitting on Thursday, we will now be sitting on Wednesday and Thursday.

I am thus forced to move our workshop to the next available date is Saturday 2 July.

Venue: Marks Park, Bowling club, Judith Rd, Emmarentia
Time: 2 – 5pm

The meeting is aimed at councillors, Residents Associations and community members wishing to volunteer to assist with specific projects regarding vagrancy in their suburb. The objective of the meeting is to inform everyone about the current situation in the Department of Health and Social Development, discuss the factors that lead to people living on the streets of your suburb, and present a new model developed by Councillor Forsythe and the Displaced Peoples Unit, which involves active participation by the community and includes local NGOs, Faith-based organisations, nurses, doctors, lawyers, social workers and others wishing to contribute.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

“Dear MRA members,

This is a reminder of the Vagrancy workshop I have arranged for next week Wednesday.

Date: 22 June 2016
Time: 08h30 to 1230
Venue: The Pavilion room, Marks Park Sports Club

The workshop is aimed at councillors, Residents Associations, CPF members, local NGOs working in the field of Displaced People, the JMPD, the SAPS, security companies and any other parties wishing to find solutions to the issue of people living on the streets of Johannesburg. The objective is threefold: to assist those who need our help, to ensure that by-laws are respected and that everyone’s rights are protected.

Given the current lack of resources in the department of Social Development, I have developed a new model with the Displaced People’s Unit involving community participation. This model will be explained during the workshop and community representatives will be given guidance on how to set the model up in their suburbs.

Please feel free to forward this invitation to members of your community that you feel might like to participate. Anyone wishing to attend must please RSVP via email by 12pm on Tuesday 21 June as space is limited.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Best regards,

Amanda
