The Melville Residents’ Association

“Dear MRA Members,

RE: DATE CHANGE FOR VAGRANT WORKSHOP

Thank you for your interest in attending the Workshop on Vagrancy. Unfortunately, the Speaker of Council has unexpectedly decided to hold our Council meeting over two days this week due to the long agenda and therefore, instead of sitting on Thursday, we will now be sitting on Wednesday and Thursday.

I am thus forced to move our workshop to the next available date is Saturday 2 July.

Venue: Marks Park, Bowling club, Judith Rd, Emmarentia
Time: 2 – 5pm

The meeting is aimed at councillors, Residents Associations and community members wishing to volunteer to assist with specific projects regarding vagrancy in their suburb. The objective of the meeting is to inform everyone about the current situation in the Department of Health and Social Development, discuss the factors that lead to people living on the streets of your suburb, and present a new model developed by Councillor Forsythe and the Displaced Peoples Unit, which involves active participation by the community and includes local NGOs, Faith-based organisations, nurses, doctors, lawyers, social workers and others wishing to contribute.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Regards,

Councillor Amanda Forsythe
