Dear Melville Community,

We have good news, the illegal build has halted after the city’s enforcement and legal teams visited the site on the 21 June 2018 and the owner decided to halt the build.

We will now continue to monitor the site to ensure construction does not continue again and we will also continue to engage with the city to request that the half-finished structures are demolished.

We thank everyone in the community for their support in this initiative and also the ward councillor for her assistance in directing the MRA in its engagement with the city.

 

 

“Be informed that yesterday, Building Control, Council Prosecutors and JMPD conducted the site inspection. The construction work has been stopped and issued with Section 56 fine. JMPD and Building Control will continue monitor the site.

The Council Prosecutors are working on the legal file for prosecution through Municipality Court against the property owner.
