Please be advised that another application for a liquor license in the Melville area was lodged with the Gauteng Liquor Board.
This is for a Restaurant licence in 7th Street, Meet@Molois – Application GLB 7000014089.
The location of the proposed venue is on 7th Street, but the application is not exactly clear as there is no known address 245, 7th Street.
You all know that there are more than 40 liquor licenced premises within a radius of 1 kilometre from about the centre of Melville. Most of you will also know about the troubles during and following a transfer of a liquor licence. Also the noise disturbance and nuisance caused by some on-consumption liquor licensed outlets, especially those trading as pubs or clubs under restaurant licences.
Residents who are concerned about these issues are encouraged to object – the Gauteng Liquor Board has the authority to either decline a licence or to issue a conditional licence, to for instance limit the opening hours in a residential area.
The MRA will, as is the practice lodge an objection – in this instance specifically as the application is flawed and there is no lease agreement, no compliance to prescriptive conditions for applications, and other defects in the application.
The deadline for objections to be lodged is 25 June 2021.
